Time Type: Full timeWorker Type: EmployeeThe Insurance Accounting Senior Analyst is responsible for overseeing and executing complex accounting functions related to insurance operations, including premium recognition, claims accounting, reinsurance, and regulatory compliance. This role ensures accurate financial reporting in accordance with IFRS, GAAP, and local insurance regulations. The Senior Analyst collaborates closely with cross-functional teams such as actuarial, underwriting, and finance to support audits, financial planning, and process improvements. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of insurance accounting principles and systems.

Responsibilities:

  • General Ledger Accuracy: Ensuring the accuracy of the general ledger by preparing, posting, reviewing, and approving journals, reconciliations, and reports.

  • Timely Execution: Completing activities on time according to the finance calendar and ensuring no audit errors.

  • Compliance and Reporting: Contributing to the preparation of accurate accounting records in line with internal procedures and statutory requirements. Supporting the production of financial returns and management reports.

  • Audit and Controls: Monitoring Blackline reconciliations, resolving issues, and ensuring adherence to the Group’s Accounts Reconciliation Policy.

  • Technical Expertise: Providing guidance and technical support to analysts and specialists, especially in areas like auto-certified reconciliations, suspense account clean-up, and IBNR monitoring.

Work Experience:

  • Proven experience in insurance accounting processes, including premium and claims accounting, reinsurance, and IBNR (Incurred But Not Reported) reserves.

  • Strong background in preparing and analyzing trial balances, general ledger reconciliations, and financial statements in accordance with IFRS or local GAAP.

  • Experience leading or participating in finance transformation initiatives such as system Continuous improvement implementations, automation, or process clean-ups.

  • Hands-on experience in managing suspense accounts, performing root cause analysis, and implementing sustainable reconciliation processes.

  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including actuarial, underwriting, and IT, to resolve accounting issues and support business decisions.

  • Proficiency in Oracle, BlackLine reconciliation tools, and advanced Excel functions.

Qualifications:

Necessary Qualifications include:

  • Tertiary Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Certificates as an accountant. Preferably CPA.
