The Opportunity:
Join our dynamic Claims team at QBE Re and play a key role in managing complex, high-value claims within a global reinsurance environment. Based in our Brussels office, you will collaborate with international stakeholders, reinsurers, and brokers to deliver fair, transparent outcomes and drive operational excellence. This is an exciting chance to combine your technical expertise, leadership skills, and industry knowledge to make a real impact in a fast-paced, evolving market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the formulation and implementation of the Reinsurance (RI) Programme to ensure accurate application and full utilisation of protection.
  • Implement the resources needed to meet business requirements.
  • Assist with the delivery of an RI Administration model aligned with stakeholders' interests around RI contracts and information.
  • Support the RI renewal process.
  • Continually review the data quality of the RI Operations team and the Global Shared Services Centre (GSSC), identifying systemic issues early.
  • Investigate and test IT systems to recommend improvements.
  • Assist in producing reinsurance performance analysis for the QBE Group to aid business planning.
  • Coordinate shared covers to ensure the interests of all parties are equally supported.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, Reinsurers, and Brokers to aid the recovery process.
  • Maintain an appropriate internal stakeholder network across the QBE group.
  • Lead and coordinate the Brussels claims team in close collaboration with the Claims Manager.

About you:


  • Extensive experience managing complex claims, particularly those involving high risk and/or high value.
  • Active involvement in relevant industry groups, demonstrating strong professional networking and up-to-date sector knowledge.
  • Proven leadership and team management experience, combined with solid claims management expertise.
  • Extensive experience in reinsurance, with a good understanding of industry processes and products.
  • Legal experience within an insurance environment, providing sound judgment on regulatory and contractual matters.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, focused on strategic decision-making and team development.
  • Proficiency in English is essential and should be complemented by one or more national languages. Knowledge of additional languages will be considered an advantage

  • Initiative & Collaboration: Proactive in process improvement and knowledge sharing.
  • You are motivated, adaptable, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment with evolving priorities.
