The Opportunity
This leadership role focuses on driving strategic data engagement and AI adoption best practice across QBE’s Australia-Pacific (AUSPAC) division. The role aims to standardise data practices across AUSPAC data communities, accelerate data literacy, and leading AI adoption best practices to strategic AI initiatives so that data risk mindsets and responsible AI behaviours are embedded across impacted business areas.

Your new role
As Head of Data Community and AI Adoption, you will be responsible for growing and nurturing a collaborative data culture across QBE’s AUSPAC division. You will bring a unique blend of data expertise and business acumen, leveraging strategic communication and engagement skills to inspire senior leaders and teams to embrace the value of data and AI. Your leadership will be instrumental in embedding positive AI behaviours and empowering data communities to share knowledge, celebrate success and continuously improve.
Responsibilities include:
- Drive compelling storytelling to communicate the value of data and AI across AUSPAC leadership and cross-divisional forums, ensuring alignment with AUSPAC’s overall Data & Analytics strategy
- Lead strategic engagement initiatives to strengthen federated data communities, applying influence and negotiation skills to embed common data practices and foster effective data collaboration across business units
- Design and deliver integrated learning programs that enhance data literacy and understanding across AUSPAC, partnering with People and L&D teams to ensure relevance and alignment with broader strategic workforce needs
- Oversee adoption of Data & AI initiatives, embedding responsible AI behaviours and data risk mindsets, while tailoring policies and standards to support effective implementation and mitigate regulatory risk.
- Execute high-impact engagement activities and presentations that translate complex data concepts into simple business language, leveraging behavioural science to drive adoption and reduce change-related risks.
- Nurture a collaborative, high-performing team culture through mentorship, coaching, and continuous improvement, promoting inclusivity and knowledge sharing to sustain engagement and innovation.
About you:
To succeed in the Head of Data Community & AI Adoption role, you will need a unique blend of technical expertise, strategic leadership, and exceptional communication skills. This position demands the ability to navigate complex change, influence diverse senior stakeholders, and foster a culture of data literacy and responsible AI adoption across AUSPAC.
- Deep understanding of the insurance industry, complemented by experience in building and nurturing data communities and demystifying data concepts.
- Advanced transformation and enterprise-wide change management capabilities, with a proven track record of delivering strategic change initiatives across large organisations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of AI tools, data platforms, and automation technologies, alongside an understanding of workforce considerations tied to Data & AI governance policies and standards.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to inspire and influence at all levels, supported by strong relationship-building, negotiation, and strategic storytelling.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capability to interpret engagement, learning, and adoption data to design actionable improvements, while demonstrating adaptability and innovative thinking in fast-paced environments.
- Proven experience collaborating with Group and Divisional stakeholders to achieve aligned outcomes and foster a collaborative data culture.
