The opportunity

The Service Manager – Construction will support the Commercial Property, Construction and Engineering Claims. This is a people leader role managing a team of insurance professionals, and will also provide technical information, guidance and support to the team, optimise delivery of claims service to customers, perform key periodic reviews, assist with auditing of claims files and optimise claims duration. There is also an exciting opportunity to introduce new processes focusing on expediting small, low complexity claims to delight our customers.

Your new role

  • To support the Head of Business Unit, manage a team of Claims Officers and Technical Services Officers in Melbourne and interstate

  • Support the implementation of the Claims strategy to enable delivery of overall business targets

  • Coach for performance and Identify training needs and assist in facilitating appropriate training for the team

  • Referral point for escalations and stakeholders, and promote delivery of superior customer service

  • Ensure sound understanding of company policies and the process for reporting breaches, incidents and customer complaints

  • Ensure compliance with relevant legal, regulatory, industry and ethical standards

  • Engage with internal stakeholders (Product, Underwriting, Sales) to support market facing activities, submissions for new business, manage the overall financial and operational performance of the QBE's portfolio of Construction and Engineering claims and develop customer value proposition

Your story so far

  • Proven experience in a people leader or similar role within the insurance industry

  • Strong relationship management skills building internal stakeholder partnerships and delivering to external market expectations

  • Fundamental knowledge of the legal process and protocols

  • Solid understanding of people leadership concepts, effective coaching and mentoring

  • Demonstrated understanding of construction insurance and claims

  • Legal background (advantageous)

  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills

  • Capacity for self-reflection and ability to work well in a team
