The Opportunity
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Team Leader to join our Underwriting Operations team in London.
This role leads and develops a team of Underwriting Assistants, delivering accurate, timely and high‑quality service across a defined product or line of business. Working as part of a wider leadership team, you’ll collaborate closely with other managers to drive continuous improvement, efficiency and positive change, while maintaining strong service standards.
You’ll also provide broader leadership support within the function, including stepping in for senior management when required.

Your new role
- Contribute to the delivery of operational objectives across the underwriting function and wider business.
- Lead and oversee service delivery for the assigned business unit, ensuring a consistently accurate, high‑quality and timely service.
- Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across the business.
- Support the achievement of underwriting profit and growth targets for the relevant product or line of business.
- Work in partnership with the Operations Manager and the business to support operational change and transformation initiatives.
- Set clear service delivery standards, monitoring performance to drive continuous improvement and more efficient ways of working.
- Ensure all activity complies with legal, regulatory and FCA requirements.
- Handle complaints in line with FCA guidelines, providing guidance and support to less experienced team members when needed.
- Coach, train and mentor the team to support performance, capability development and delivery of agreed targets.
Having the right to work in the UK is a requirement for this role. QBE may consider sponsorship at its discretion.
About you
- People management experience in insurance with the ability to lead and coach others
- Previous experience of change management and process mapping
- Great communication and relationship building skills
- Able to manage performance and deliver results
- Data analysis skills
- Keen to embrace technology and new ways of working
