This is a pivotal role at QBE, responsible for shaping how we deliver fair, consistent and compliant outcomes in a complex and evolving legislative environment. You will lead a specialist team, embed new ways of working, and play a key role in translating legislative reform into practical, high-quality claims management.

Your new role

  • Lead and embed a new specialist claims service focused on psychological injury and legislative reform.

  • Provide strong leadership and direction to a team of claims professionals, supporting capability uplift in eligibility assessment, legislative interpretation and quality decision making.

  • Drive consistent application of the NSW Workers Compensation legislative changes, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations and QBE standards.

  • Translate legislation, guidance material and case law into clear operational processes and coaching for your team.

  • Oversee claims decision making, including eligibility determinations, dispute management, reserve setting and authorisations within delegation.

  • Partner closely with internal stakeholders including Technical, Quality, Legal, Dispute Resolution and Change teams to support effective reform implementation.

  • Monitor performance, quality and customer outcomes, using insights to drive continuous improvement and build confidence in decision making.

  • Manage complaints, escalations and investigations relevant to psychological injury claims.

About you

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in Workers Compensation claims, with strong capability in managing complex or sensitive claims.

  • Sound understanding of NSW Workers Compensation legislation, with experience interpreting and applying legislative change in a practical environment.

  • Proven ability to lead teams through change, building clarity, confidence and engagement during periods of reform.

  • Strong coaching and people leadership skills, with a passion for developing technical capability and professional judgement.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex legislative concepts clearly and simply.
