The Role

The Senior Director, Commercial will drive impact across our marketplace through leading strategic initiatives and operations across our Merchandising, Pricing, Biz Ops and FP&A teams. This is a great opportunity within a leading global marketplace for a candidate with a strong track-record in Commercial teams in an e-commerce or marketplace environment. This role will report directly to the Redbubble CEO and is ideally based out of our San Francisco office.

Key Accountabilities:

Merchandising:

  • Own the development and execution of our product line strategy across the marketplace including new products, ensuring Redbubble is continually refining our product line strategy to support financial targets.
  • Identify opportunities to expand/enhance our product line to capitalize on consumer trends, sunset or improve underperforming products.
  • Identify new approaches for growing the business, driving initiatives to increase category awareness, and create processes to better manage the performance of categories over the long term.
  • Use data and analytics to drive category insights and recommendations.
  • Own product development processes to successfully launch new products.
  • Develop strategies to best merchandise products within a digital marketplace platform.

Pricing:

  • Drive revenue and profit growth through development and execution of product and shipping pricing strategies and tactical initiatives for new and existing products.
  • Leverage deep analytics and qualitative research to deliver insights actionable across our business (Supply Chain, Marketing & Commercial teams).
  • Lead pricing experiments globally, working with cross-functional partners to deliver optimal marketplace outcomes.
  • Provide pricing and revenue insights as input to our weekly and monthly management forums.
  • Proactive analysis and insights related to the revenue management as input to weekly operational management forums and reporting.
  • Support our Chief Marketing Officer with promotional decisions, including modeling impact to budget and creating a portfolio of promotional options.

Financial Planning & Analysis:

  • Develop budgets & forecasts for key financial metrics.
  • Lead our Weekly and Monthly Business Reviews, including organizing key inputs (reporting & analysis).
  • Conduct analysis of trends, issues, and opportunities for the business.

Business Ops:

  • Facilitate our annual/quarterly OKR process, ensuring creation and alignment of OKRs cross-functionally and transparent progress updates.
  • Project manage large business projects that require cross-functional collaboration e.g. product launches, new categories etc.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Deep experience (8 years +) in an e-commerce retailer or online marketplace (preferably in the US) within a wider Commercial function with demonstrated domain knowledge across 2 or more of these functional areas; Merchandising, Pricing, Planning, Finance, Strategy, and Product Development.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a function (5 years +) with multiple work streams in an ecommerce/marketplace environment.
  • Analytical capabilities including data extraction (ie SQL), proficiency in conducting experiments and handling large datasets.
  • Experience with business operations roles (OKR methodology), and project management skills.
  • Enjoys working on strategy but also willing to be hands on when required e.g. being deep in daily operational data and doing own analysis
  • Commercial problem solver, experience offering insights and advice not just executing on predetermined plans.
  • Strong coaching and growth mindset, experience building and developing a team.
  • Excellent business and communication skills with proven ability to “influence” in cross-functional global organization.

We offer competitive compensation because we want to hire the best people and reward them for their contributions to our mission. We pay all employees relative to the San Francisco City market, regardless of their location. In pursuit of pay equity and fairness, the starting annual base salary for this position is anticipated to be $220k - $250k. The final offer may be determined by a number of non discriminatory factors, including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. All employees may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as stock-based compensation, which are awarded to employees annually, subject to board discretion.
