To further strengthen our commitment to workplace health and safety (WHS), we are looking for a WHS Systems Specialist to assess our current systems and lead the implementation of a new WHS system that ensures the highest level of safety for our workforce.
As our new WHS Specialist, you will play a crucial role in the development, assessment, and implementation of a comprehensive WHS management system. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify potential risks, create effective strategies, and establish processes that comply with industry regulations and best practices. Your expertise will ensure that our manufacturing facility maintains the highest WHS standards while working with chemicals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES...
Assessment of Current WHS Systems:
- Conduct a thorough assessment of the existing WHS systems, policies, and procedures within the manufacturing facility.
- Identify gaps, weaknesses, and areas for improvement in the current WHS framework.
Compliance and Regulatory Expertise:
- Stay up to date with relevant WHS regulations, standards, and best practices related to chemical manufacturing.
- Ensure the facility's WHS practices align with all applicable legal requirements.
Development of WHS Policies and Procedures:
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop comprehensive WHS policies and procedures tailored to the unique needs of our chemical manufacturing operations.
- Document and communicate new policies and procedures effectively throughout Samsara.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
- Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses related to chemical processes and equipment.
- Develop risk mitigation strategies and control measures to reduce workplace accidents and incidents.
WHS Training and Education:
- Develop and deliver WHS training programs for employees, focusing on chemical safety protocols.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness and compliance among all staff members.
Implementation of WHS Management System:
- Lead the implementation of a new WHS management system, ensuring seamless integration into daily operations.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the WHS system and make continuous improvements as needed.
Incident Investigation and Reporting:
- Investigate workplace incidents and accidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate incident records and submit required reports to regulatory authorities.
QUALIFICATIONS...
- Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or a related field. Minimum Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety is highly desirable
- Driver’s licence C-class is essential
- A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) is desirable
- Qualifications and/or experience in WHS auditing is desirable
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar professional certifications
- Proven experience in WHS management within a chemical manufacturing environment - 3+ years is ideal
- In-depth knowledge of WHS regulations, chemical safety, and risk assessment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Proficiency in WHS software and tools
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and lead change effectively
