Samsara Eco is looking for a Research Scientist to be part of our friendly, motivated team. who are developing technology for the infinite recycling and upcycling of plastic waste. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in enzyme design, engineering and characterisation. Additionally, they will have strong communication skills and be able to supervise graduate students in their research projects. They should also be highly organised, proactive, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities include...
- Characterization of enzymes, including activity, kinetics and stability.
- Expression and purification of engineered enzymes.
- Collaboration with scientists and bioinformaticians to engineer and improve candidate enzymes.
- Collaboration with engineers to implement and develop enzymatic processes.
- Conduct literature research and stay up to date with latest developments in the discovery and engineering of relevant enzymes.
- Communicate results and progress to project teams and management, and contribute to the preparation of project reports and presentations.
- PhD in protein engineering, biochemistry, chemical biology, or a related field.
- Experience in protein expression, purification and characterisation.
- Experience in enzyme characterization, including kinetics, stability and assay development.
- Familiarity with computational protein design.
- Familiarity with enzyme immobilisation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
