Want to help us in our mission to end the plastic pollution crisis?

Then come join Samsara in tackling one of the planet's biggest problems with big impact!

Samsara represents the coming together of co-founders, the Australian National University (ANU), one of Australia's largest retailers and Main Sequence Ventures, to address a big planetary problem and build the kind of solution the world has been waiting for. Not only will Samsara’s technology play a key role in solving the world's plastic recycling problems and eliminating the production of plastics from fossil fuels, our commercial potential is compelling.

We are a jaw droppingly unique company! Whilst we are an envirotech scale-up creating infinite recycling to end plastic pollution, we are also building an incredible place to work. We know that to make the magic happen our day to day working lives and rewards for our efforts need to be unique and exciting for the extra effort put in.

To fulfil this ambition, it is critical for Samsara to compete on the world stage for funding and talent. We are growing rapidly, and the company is at a pivotal and exciting stage of translating our founding technologies into scale-up and then industrial scale implementation in support of our key areas of production on recycling PET and nylon. We are engaging with and looking to expand our team with recognised leaders and experts in their field to help drive this evolution.

The Role...

The Plant Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of the chemical and enzymatic depolymerisation plant’s operations, including production, maintenance, safety, and quality control.

The role will initially oversee the Mitchell facility but will transition to overseeing the greenfield Jerrabomberra site from mid-2025. Both sites are prototype, R&D facilities. Expect regular changes and upgrades. Think F1 – if there’s a better, faster way, we’ll introduce it quickly and expect results fast.

This role will suit a curious, dynamic, hands-on person with a keen interest in innovative science and engineering. A production manager looking to step up, or a person with an engineering, technical, quality or R&D background with some operational experience would also be well suited to this role.

This role will be based in Mitchell, ACT for the first 4-5 months, and will then move to Jerrabomberra in NSW, just over the ACT border. The role will be full-time 5days a week on site.

Your key priorities in the next 12-24 months will be to...

  • Operational Management: Oversee all plant operations, including production, maintenance, and quality control.
  • Collaborative R&D: Collaborate with a diverse team of engineers, technicians, and support staff to implement improvements and changes safely, systematically and at pace.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and lead a small team of production team leaders, operators, and maintenance staff.
  • Project Management: Lead and coordinate projects, ensuring timely and successful completion.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on plant performance, project progress, and safety compliance.
  • Culture: Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the plant.

Ideally you will have...

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is highly regarded
  • Experience in chemical, pharmaceutical or fast-moving consumer goods manufacturing, with at least 2 years in an operations management role. This role would suit a production manager stepping up to a plant leadership role, or a person with a quality, technical or R&D background with a few years of operations management experience under their belt.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Understanding of safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

You are a purpose-driven team player, inspired by the opportunity to make a global impact. You deeply believe in Samsara’s mission and the vital role we will all play in creating the most impactful recycling company.
