Having successfully proven our science and piloting capability, we are now deploying our First Commercial Facility and building the blueprint for global replication.

ROLE PURPOSE...

The Executive Director – Engineering & Capital Delivery is accountable for shaping and governing Samsara Eco’s enterprise capital deployment as we move from technology development into global commercial scale.

This role establishes and leads the Owner’s Engineering model while ensuring that capital decisions integrate technical integrity, financial discipline, operational readiness, and long-term enterprise value creation.

Reporting to the CEO, and partnering closely with the GM Asia, CIO, and broader Executive team, this leader ensures that engineering execution, capital governance, and commercial strategy are fully aligned.

Beyond delivery of the First Commercial Facility, this role helps design the scalable operating blueprint for future facilities, joint ventures, and international expansion.

Over time, this position will play a critical role in shaping Samsara Eco’s broader operational capability as the business scales globally.

• This role is based in Jerrabomberra close to the border of ACT and will require relocation.
• Exceptional Singapore-based candidates may be considered; however, the role will require extensive and ongoing travel to Australia.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Enterprise Capital Strategy & Governance

• Establish and lead Samsara Eco’s Owner’s Engineering (OE) model
• Define and embed enterprise capital governance frameworks across FEL3 → FID → construction → commissioning
• Ensure technical, financial, and operational integrity prior to capital lock-in
• Integrate CAPEX, OPEX, operability, ramp-up profile, and long-term value considerations into all capital decisions
• Challenge optimism bias and surface risk before commitment

Executive Oversight – First Commercial Facility (FCF)

• Provide executive oversight to FCF Engineering leadership, accountable for end-to-end execution
• Act as senior owner-side counterparty to EPC partners and key vendors
• Ensure scope, cost, schedule, and risk decisions support enterprise outcomes — not just project milestones
• Embed predictability, transparency, and disciplined escalation into delivery

Enterprise Integration & Operating Model Design

• Translate capital deployment into long-term operating model design
• Align engineering execution with commercial, JV, and supply chain strategy
• Shape the operational blueprint for global facility replication
• Contribute to enterprise risk management, capital allocation, and portfolio prioritisation discussions at Executive level

Risk, Cost & Operability Assurance

• Own owner-side technical and execution risk frameworks
• Ensure commissioning complexity and ramp-up cost are fully understood and modelled
• Balance engineering excellence with commercial pragmatism

Capability & Future Platform Build

• Build and lead a high-performing Owner’s Engineering capability
• Enable effective knowledge transfer from R&D and pilot environments into commercial facilities
• Prepare engineering structures for future JV incorporation and asset replication
• Establish scalable engineering standards across future facilities

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE...

• Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Process or related Engineering discipline
• 20+ years’ experience delivering capital-intensive chemical or process manufacturing facilities
• Demonstrated owner-side leadership of US$100M+ capital investments
• Experience integrating laboratory, pilot plant, and vendor trial data into commercial-scale design
• Deep exposure to FEL, FEED, construction, commissioning, and start-up
• Strong understanding of EPC/PCM delivery models and capital governance

• Enterprise-level commercial judgement and capital allocation discipline
• Experience operating at Executive or Board level in capital-intensive environments
• Ability to integrate technical, financial, and operational decision-making
• Exposure to multi-site or international expansion environments
• Experience preparing organisations for JV incorporation or asset spin-out advantageous
