Join us in crafting flawless code!
At Procreate we're dedicated to making exceptional creative tools by combining beautiful user experiences with high performance engineering. Used by millions around the globe, Procreate is committed to placing more power in the hands of creatives.
Procreate is known for industry-leading quality that combines the best of design and performance. Achieving this benchmark of excellence comes from finessing the minute details. We’re looking for a software engineer who is obsessed with quality and excited to preserve Procreate’s exceptional benchmark. This role will have a strong focus on identifying and fixing bugs, working closely with the Product Development and Product Care team.
The role.
Every day, we receive messages from artists around the world expressing how much joy and positive impact Procreate has brought to their lives. Your work will directly contribute to software experience that is highly performant, reliable and intuitive. Your eye for detail and engineering craftsmanship will be felt directly by millions of users around the world.
This is an incredible opportunity to work with the creators of the technology behind Procreate. You will be collaborating closely with the Product Development and Product Care teams to develop a deep technical understanding of our codebase, with a primary responsibility in bug triage and testing.
What you'll do.
Identify, Categorise and Fix bugs.
As an engineer bug fixing, you will work on identifying, categorising, and understanding reported issues and errors in the code. This may involve analysing error logs, user feedback, and system behaviour to pinpoint the root cause of the problem.
Troubleshooting and debugging.
In this role, you’ll engage in thorough troubleshooting and debugging processes using various tools and techniques to isolate the bug from code, analyse its behaviours, and identify the specific functions causing the issue.
Code Modification and Patching.
You’ll work directly with Product Development and make necessary code modifications, and patches to fix the bug. You’ll ensure that the changes are accurate, targeted and do not introduce any new issues.
Testing and Validations.
As a Software Engineer (Bug fixing), you will ensure that the identified issues have been resolved, and no regression is introduced. You will conduct testing and validation to confirm that the bug is successfully fixed, and the affected functionality is working as the Product team expects.
Skills.
Proficiency in iOS development and experience developing custom controls.
You must possess strong iOS development skills and should be highly proficient in understanding existing code base to identify the root cause of the bug. Debugging skills are crucial.
Attention to detail and thoroughness.
You should be meticulous in your analysis, searching for potential issues, or deviation from coding standards. You should have demonstrated ability in producing documentation in reproducing bugs, and any related error messages/logs.
Experience in creating test cases.
You’ll have ample experience in creating wide range of test cases that encompass various scenarios and edge cases to ensure the fix is robust and does not introduce new issues. You should have the ability to analyse patterns in previous defects and work towards implementing preventive measures in the codebase to enhance software reliability.
Patience and Persistence.
As a detail-oriented bug fixer, you can stay persistent in your pursuit of the root cause even when faced with intricate issues that may take considerable amount of time and effort to resolve.
