Principal Engineer

We're looking for a seasoned technical leader to drive architecture, design, and delivery excellence across our data engineering practice with the aim of creating a solution that meets the customer requirements and solution that is implemented to industry and Versent standards..
Roles and Responsibilities
Lead the design and implementation of scalable data architectures on Azure and Microsoft Fabric
Translate business requirements into secure, high-performance data solutions
Develop and maintain enterprise-grade data pipelines, lakehouses, and warehouses
Guide and mentor engineering teams through code reviews, technical training, and best practices
Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical scope and delivery approach
Drive adoption of best-in-class engineering practices and Versent standards
Contribute to client deliverables, Statements of Work, RFPs, and open-source initiatives
Support recruitment, onboarding, and capability development of engineers
Ensure data observability, governance, and CI/CD practices are embedded in all solutions
Required Skills
10+ years of data engineering experience with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure and Fabric

Expertise in:
Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Fabric Pipelines
Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Fabric Lakehouses and Warehouses
Real-time streaming (Azure Event Hubs, Kafka, Fabric Real-Time Analytics)
Data ingestion, transformation with PySpark, Spark Jobs, Fabric Notebooks
Dimensional data modeling (Data Vault 2.0, Star Schema)
CI/CD using Azure DevOps (Git, Pipelines)
Strong coding skills in Python / PySpark, Java / Scala, SQL
Experience with Agile methodologies and tools (Jira, Confluence, Miro)
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities

Azure Solutions Architect Expert
Fabric Data Engineer Associate / Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate
Databricks Data Engineer Professional
