Head of Solution Engineering – TrendAI Netherlands

About the Role

We are looking for a Head of Solution Engineering to lead our local Solution Engineering organization and drive day‑to‑day excellence in PreSales execution for the Netherlands business.

This is a leadership role with responsibility for people leadership, prioritization, and operational alignment across Tech, Sales, Channel, and Marketing. The role focuses on execution and enablement, while working in close partnership with the Technical Director, who owns technical strategy, business initiatives and European/global alignment.

The team currently consists of approximately five Solution Engineers, making this a role that combines hands‑on leadership with clear delegation and scale mindset. Direct customer contact is part of the role as well.

Your Mission

  • Lead and continiously develop a high‑performing local Solution Engineering team to ensure we have the right resources and skills for our demand on co-operation in partner and sales opportunities, marketing collaboration and channel a partner collaboration.
  • Ensure effective, consistent PreSales execution across customer and partner engagements
  • Act as a strong operational counterpart to Sales, Channel and Marketing leadership in a high-performance team
  • Translate global and regional direction into practical local execution

Key Responsibilities

Local SE Leadership & Operations

  • Lead, coach, and develop the local Solution Engineering team (currently 5+ Solution Engineers)
  • Set priorities and ensure focus on the right opportunities and customers
  • Own day‑to‑day PreSales execution including customer engagements, demos, POCs, and tenders
  • Act as the primary escalation point for complex or high‑impact situations
  • Engage in customer interaction as management stakeholder / technical lead and lead with a growth-oriented mindset

The role focuses on leadership, coordination, and quality rather than replacing individual contributors.

Sales, Channel & Marketing Alignment

  • Operate as a trusted execution partner to Sales leadership
  • Ensure effective SE engagement across direct sales and channel partners
  • Support Marketing initiatives with technical input and field readiness
  • Contribute to strategic account planning and opportunity qualification

This role does not carry an individual sales quota but has strong influence on revenue outcomes through enablement and execution.

Go‑To‑Market & Customer Engagement

  • Support the local go‑to‑market execution by aligning technical activities with Sales priorities
  • Help simplify and position TrendAI solutions for customers and partners with Land & Expand initiatives as well as upsell initiatives
  • Participate selectively in strategic customer engagements where leadership presence or escalation is required
  • Facilitate Sales Enablement activities to keep knowledge current and support our vision of value-oriented storytelling

Collaboration with Technical Director & Global Teams

  • Work closely with the Technical Director to execute strategic direction locally
  • Provide structured feedback from customers and the field into European and global teams
  • Ensure local execution aligns with regional and global initiatives

Local execution decisions and prioritization sit with this role; long‑term technical strategy remains with the Technical Director.

Capability, Capacity & Performance Management

  • Own capacity planning and skill alignment for the Solution Engineering team
  • Continuously improve SE effectiveness through reviews, metrics, and feedback
  • Enforce opportunity and POC reviews to improve focus and win rates

Talent Development

  • Coach and mentor Solution Engineers in both technical and professional growth
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, learning, and accountability
  • Support career development and succession planning

POC & Opportunity Governance

  • Own local governance for Proof of Concepts (POCs) to abend to global standards
  • Ensure POCs are well‑qualified, value‑driven, and outcome‑focused with a high-quality in documentation and execution
  • Balance customer needs with team capacity and business priorities

What You Bring

  • Experience leading or mentoring Solution Engineers or PreSales teams
  • Strong ability to work closely with Sales while maintaining technical integrity
  • Clear communication skills across technical and non‑technical stakeholders
  • Pragmatic leadership mindset — structured, collaborative, and execution‑focused
  • Experience working in environments with regional or global alignment

You do not need to be an expert in everything — the role is about enabling others and making good decisions, not being the smartest person in every room.
