Who are we?
UpGuard’s mission is to make life easier for security teams. We meticulously create robust solutions that enable our customers to identify, assess, and remediate cybersecurity risk across their attack surface, vendor ecosystem, workforce, and trust relationships. Our integrated cyber risk posture management platform combines comprehensive security ratings, instant risk assessments, templated security questionnaires, threat intelligence capabilities, and agentic AI to give organizations a holistic view of their risk surface.
Our Analytics team at UpGuard supports all of our teams to extract key insights from the data that we collect. We extract data from multiple sources and build insightful dashboards to display key metrics and support leaders to make decisions. We also build integrations between systems to seamlessly collect required data.
Where does this role fit in?
As UpGuard continues its rapid growth trajectory, we are seeking an accomplished and visionary Director of Analytics. Reporting to the VP of Analytics, this critical role is responsible for driving significant business value through strategic insights, self-service business intelligence development, and operational data support. The Director will establish and oversee analytics roadmaps and projects, meticulously capture stakeholder requirements, and ensure delivery is executed with an automation-first mindset as the company scales.

What will you do?

  • Actionable Insight: Generate compelling and actionable insights from complex data sets that directly lead to demonstrable commercial success across the organisation.
  • Stakeholder engagement: Establish strong collaborative relationships and engage closely with key stakeholders across all departments of the company, to effectively prioritise and drive high-impact data analytics initiatives.
  • Business Intelligence: Partner strategically with the A3 team to not only provide robust self-service conversational analytics capabilities but also to meticulously utilise design thinking principles for the creation of critical, user-friendly dashboards.
  • Data Products: Work with the data engineering team to design, construct, and maintain foundational data assets and robust data products for reliable, organisation-wide consumption and use.
  • Automation: Proactively identify opportunities to eliminate repetitive manual data analysis across the business by leveraging cutting-edge, state-of-the-art data science capabilities and machine learning models, in close partnership with the lead data scientist.
  • Deep Dive analysis: Personally conduct thorough, hands-on, and highly technical data analysis to effectively diagnose and solve the most significant and complex business challenges facing the company.

What will you bring?

  • Proven Leadership: 3+ years leading an Analytics function within a high-growth SaaS company.
  • Scaling Experience: Demonstrated experience transforming an existing Analytics function in partnership with Data Engineering.
  • Data Infrastructure Expertise: Strong understanding of modern data infrastructure (e.g., cloud data warehouses like Snowflake, BigQuery; ETL/ELT tools; dbt model development; modern data visualisation tools like ThoughtSpot, OMNI, Looker).
  • Exceptional Business Acumen: Ability to quickly understand complex business problems, identify key performance indicators, and translate data into strategic insights that drive tangible business value.
  • Communication & Influence: Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills, with the ability to articulate complex analytical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences and influence decision-making.
  • Strategic & Analytical Thinking: Highly analytical and strategic mindset, with a proven track record of developing and executing data strategies that align with business objectives.
  • Team Development: Experience recruiting, developing, and retaining top analytical talent.
  • Data Development: Directly engage in the creation of fundamental data and Business Intelligence (BI) infrastructure and assets.

What will give you an edge?

  • Data Science / AI Engineering: Proven experience as a data scientist or AI engineer, ideally within a SaaS company environment.
  • Financial Acumen: Experience in developing and deploying FP+A solutions, board reporting, or other relevant commercial applications.
  • Project & Process Optimisation: Extensive background in continuous improvement methodologies, including Kanban and sprint planning, with a demonstrable history of process optimisation.

What's in it for you?

  • Monthly Lifestyle subsidy: Use this for financial, physical, and mental well-being
  • WFH set-up allowance: To ensure you have the right environment to work in, we will help you get set up within your first 3 months at UpGuard
  • $1500 USD annual Learning & Development allowance: To support your career development, all team members will be able to expense development opportunities against this allowance
  • Annual leave: PTO plus two additional UpGuardian leave days to give you time to recharge your batteries.
  • 18 weeks paid Parental Leave: Irrespective of parenting role
  • Personal Leave Allowance: This includes sick & carer’s leave
  • Fully remote working environment: While we have physical offices in Sydney & Hobart, we do not mandate compulsory attendance
