We’re looking for a mid-level engineer to join our Financial Engineering platform team that owns Spotify’s financial booking infrastructure. We build and operate the systems that turn royalties into official financial records and keep financial data flowing reliably across the company. This role offers hands-on experience with business-critical platforms that help finance teams close the books accurately and scale Spotify’s business.
What You'll Do
- Build and maintain backend services and data pipelines that support financial booking and reporting.
- Work on systems that move and transform financial data across internal platforms and enterprise finance tools.
- Contribute to the design, implementation, and operation of reliable, production-grade systems.
- Partner with engineers, product managers, and finance stakeholders to deliver accurate and auditable outcomes.
- Participate in operational ownership, including monitoring, debugging, and improving system reliability over time.
- Learn the financial and accounting domain and apply that knowledge to improve platform quality.
Who You Are
- You have a strong programming background, preferably in Java or Scala, and experience working on backend systems.
- You’ve built or supported production services or data pipelines and understand the importance of reliability and correctness.
- You’re comfortable working with structured data and thinking about data models.
- You’re interested in learning about finance and accounting concepts, even if you haven’t worked in this domain before.
- You communicate clearly and collaborate well with teammates and cross-functional partners.
- You’re a team player who takes ownership and enjoys working on shared, long-lived systems.
Where You'll Be
- This role is based in Toronto
- We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in person meetings, but still allows for flexibility to work from home.
